It pains me to say this, as I am always championing WinCo as the best grocery store in town (price-wise), but their produce section is middling at best.
Of course, considering shopping at WinCo is like possessing an invisible 30-40% off everything discount card, that is to be expected. You can't have Whole Food's veggies at, well, WinCo prices.
But I have to draw the line at their strawberries. I've lost track of the times I have bought a basket, only to see mold take over within 24 hours. And it wasn't just one brand. It has been all of them. This week's adventure found a raft of strawberries at $1.68 (I think) a basket and it was a different farm. Unfortunately, there were a lot of yellowish ones in the bunch. But with that, I figured, at least they weren't overly ripe for mold.
However, seeing how I have burned so many times before, I decided to really examine the containers this time. Good thing, too, as more than half already had mold in them.
At least their cherries looked good. (Update: though not as tasty as Scolari's Rainiers)
